WEBINAR: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on agricultural value chains – a financial perspective

The first VCB-N webinar was organized successfully on the 22nd of April 2020 with over 300 participants registering. It had speakers from Rome, Bangladesh, Vietnam and China. During the first webinar the crucial role of access to finance, thus the financial sector, in mitigating the impacts of the crises and in any economic restoration efforts was highlighted. Hence this is the core theme for the 2nd Webinar.

Speakers shared their personal and organisational perspectives the overall impact of the crisis on the performance and financial stability like the increase in defaults of outstanding loans or the lack of production capital for suffering SME’s or smallholder farmers. While speakers also offered insights into the responses of their respective institutions in terms of re-shaping their strategy and service packages and eventually financing conditions to address the challenges in the market.
